Power transmission

Transferring the rotation of a motor to the machine that needs to work is done in three ways, and each has its logic.

By chain, when an exact ratio is required and slipping cannot be allowed. ASA / ANSI chains are identified by pitch: ASA 40 has 12.7 mm between pins, 50 has 15.87, 60 has 19.05, 80 has 25.4 and 100 reaches 31.75. Those of European BS standard use a different nomenclature—04B, 06B, 08B, 10B, 12B, 16B, 20B, 24B, 32B—and are not interchangeable with the American ones even if the diameter looks similar. Each comes in single, double or triple according to the power it must transmit. We also manufacture up to sextuple, special and oil field chains for severe service.

By belt and pulley, when it is beneficial for the system to slip before breaking something, or when quiet operation matters. V-belts are identified by section—Z, A, B, C, D—and pulleys by that same section and by the number of grooves. We manufacture large-diameter pulleys, from one to eighteen grooves, with QD type taper bushing, and also special designs per drawing. When startup must be without slippage, timing belts, which are toothed, are used.

By coupling, when the motor and the machine are facing each other and the two shafts must be joined. Flexible, rigid, grid: the criterion is how much misalignment must be tolerated and how much starting shock must be dampened.

Sprockets complete the chain system, and taper bushings allow removing a pulley or sprocket from the shaft without a puller or heat.
