Spherical plain bearings and rod ends

A spherical plain bearing or rod end is a bearing without rolling elements: the inner ring has a spherical shape and slides directly against the outer ring. It is designed to accommodate angular misalignment and oscillating movement, not continuous high-speed rotation. It is selected according to the load type (radial, axial, or combined), whether the movement is alternating or rotating, environmental conditions, and the mounting type: internal or external thread, cylindrical or tapered bore, with or without sealing. The series in the catalog are identified by abbreviations. GE designates general-purpose radial spherical plain bearings; GEG adds a higher-capacity design; GEZ corresponds to a series of specific dimensions; GEH has a wider construction. In all of them, ES indicates double-lip seals and 2RS indicates sealing on both sides. The threaded shank variants are identified with SI (internal thread) and SA (external thread); SIKB, SAKB, SALKAC, and SAKAC are versions with thread and different head geometries. The suffixes F (stainless steel), M (bronze), C (PTFE), and TXE-2LS (special treatment and sealing) define the material or the contact type.
