Industrial bearings

A bearing is selected based on three things: the load it must support, the direction from which that load arrives, and the speed at which it will rotate. Everything else—the sealing, the internal clearance, the cage material—comes from the conditions of the location where it is installed.

The deep groove ball bearings of the 6000 series are the workhorse: they accept radial load and some axial load, rotate fast and are the most requested. When the load increases and speed decreases, you move to cylindrical roller bearings, which support on a line instead of a point. If the shaft is not perfectly aligned with the housing—and in a real installation it almost never is—the spherical roller bearings of series 222, 223 and 240 are used, which absorb misalignment without punishing themselves. For combined load, radial and axial at the same time, there are tapered roller bearings and angular contact ball bearings. When radial space is minimal, needle roller bearings. And when the load is purely axial, the thrust ball bearings or roller thrust bearings.

The catalog contains more than nine thousand designations, plus what is available on request. The designation is the same between manufacturers: a 6205 is a 6205 in any brand, and what changes are the suffixes. 2RS is double rubber seal, 2Z double metal shield, C3 increased internal clearance for operation with temperature, K tapered bore for mounting on an adapter sleeve.

That cross-reference is what we are most consulted about: a part number arrives from one brand and a replacement in another brand is needed. It is resolved by WhatsApp with whatever number you have at hand, even if it is written on a piece of paper or is a photo of the broken part.
