DBH radial shaft seals work where a shaft passes through a housing: the sealing area must suit both the shaft and the fluid being retained. 1002, 1005 and 1006 are references in the DBH list. Numerical proximity does not establish a sequence of diameters or make it possible to calculate dimensions from the final digits. Look up the complete number and compare the three listed dimensions with the replacement part or housing drawing.
In 1007/85, the group after the slash is also part of the reference. Record it with the initial number without interpreting it as a height or material. Copy any additional letters on the seal marking even if the photograph shows a recognisable body; the inscription and measurements provide complementary information.
The DBH guide describes gearbox shafts, pumps and transmission assemblies. Identify the shaft entry or exit and the fluid on the internal side. In a machine with several seals, locating the position prevents parts from different locations being combined in one request.
For a leakage enquiry, also photograph the shaft surface on which the lip runs and the housing. Wear marks or a distorted part may explain why measurements of the used seal differ from the mounting dimensions. Material selection requires the fluid and operating conditions; colour alone does not identify the execution.
Send the readable code, quantity, shaft diameter, housing diameter and seal height. State the measurement units and whether the profile has more than one height. Add photographs of both faces and the outer edge, together with the machine, fluid and position. If the original seal is unavailable, a dimensioned housing sketch clarifies what was measured and where the part must seat.
The code does not establish that. Compare each reference against its record and the installation dimensions.

A radial shaft seal (also called an oil seal) keeps the grease or oil in a bearing from escaping out of the housing, and keeps dirt, water or dust from entering from outside into the bearing. It is a small, inexpensive part compared with what it protects, but a poorly chosen or worn seal is one of the most common causes of a bearing washing out and failing prematurely.
DBH radial shaft seals with a designation ending in Pol are lip seals for rotating shafts: they keep lubricant inside the assembly and block the entry of dust, water and particles. This type groups four-digit codes followed by the Pol suffix, such as 1001Pol, 6558Pol or 9902Pol. Each code is a different size and configuration, so it is best to identify it in full.
