Polyurethane belts

Polyurethane belts are power transmission components used when exact synchronization between shafts is required, without slippage. They are selected by profile and pitch, which must match those of the toothed pulleys; by width, which determines the transmission capacity; and by length, which is adjusted to the center distance. Polyurethane gives them abrasion resistance and low elongation, and the internal reinforcement provides rigidity to maintain the pitch under load.

In the SKF PHG line, several constructions are available. PHG AT are AT-profile timing belts, with a polyurethane body and precise meshing on AT pitch pulleys; they are used in linear and synchronized motion. PHG DB-T are double-sided timing belts, with steel cord reinforcement, and allow motion transmission between toothed pulleys in tight spaces or with direction reversal. PHG T are single-sided T-profile timing belts, for general synchronized transmission. The nomenclature examples, such as PHG AT5-300-16, PHG DB-T10-900-12 or PHG T10-1250-25, combine series, pitch, length and width.

Typical applications include automation, machine tools, packaging equipment, printing, material handling and any system where maintaining the relative position between shafts is required. They are also used in transmissions where V-belts or poly-V belts do not guarantee synchronization.
