Polyurethane belts are power transmission elements used when exact synchronization between shafts is required, without slippage. They are selected by profile and pitch, which must match those of the timing pulleys; by width, which defines transmission capacity; and by length, which adjusts to center distance. Polyurethane provides abrasion resistance and low elongation, and the internal reinforcement provides rigidity to maintain pitch under load.

In the SKF PHG line, several constructions appear. PHG AT are toothed belts with AT profile, polyurethane body, and precise meshing on AT pitch pulleys; they are used in linear and synchronized motion. PHG DB-T are double-sided toothed belts with steel cord reinforcement, allowing power transmission between toothed pulleys in tight spaces or with reverse rotation. PHG T are toothed belts with T profile, single-sided, for general synchronized transmission. Nomenclature examples, such as PHG AT5-300-16, PHG DB-T10-900-12, or PHG T10-1250-25, combine series, pitch, length, and width.

Typical applications include automation, machine tools, packaging equipment, printing, material handling, and any system where maintaining relative position between shafts is required. They are also used in drives where V-belts or poly-V belts do not guarantee synchronization.
