Special bearings

Special bearings are components that cover requirements a standard bearing cannot meet: housings with non-standard dimensions, particular load or speed conditions, demanding operating temperatures, or equipment-specific mounting interfaces. This subcategory includes 260 SKF references, and selection starts with the original bearing code mounted on the equipment: from it, the series, construction type, and mounting dimensions are identified. When no legible code is available, housing and shaft measurements are taken, and the functional equivalent is defined.

The series in this line follow SKF's own nomenclature for special developments. BC1 and BB1 group bearings of particular design, with internal designations that do not follow the standard series scheme. BS2 corresponds to bearings with double seal and defined internal clearance, as in BS2-2213-2RS5/C4GEM9, where the suffix C4 indicates radial clearance greater than normal. BT1 identifies tapered roller variants for specific use, and BA2B, BAH, and BMB are designations of assembled units for specific applications. These bearings are used in equipment where a generic replacement does not fit or cannot withstand service conditions: gearboxes, spindles, machine tools, continuous process equipment, and mounts where radial or axial space is critical. Also in applications with integrated seal, special internal clearance, or precision tolerances that a general catalog bearing does not offer.

To quote a special bearing, you need the complete code engraved on the component or, if not available, the main dimensions: bore diameter, outside diameter, and width, plus the construction type and seal type. If the equipment has a known equivalent, that data also helps. With that information, the reference is searched among the 260 and availability is confirmed via WhatsApp or email.
