An adapter sleeve is a tapered element that allows a bearing with a tapered bore — such as 22 series spherical roller bearings or self-aligning ball bearings — to be mounted on a plain shaft, without the shaft needing a machined shoulder or a keyway.
The SKF H series is identified by the size number, which corresponds to the bearing and shaft size it is mounted on. It is secured with a KM series lock nut and an MB series lock washer, which must be ordered together with the sleeve if you do not have them.
