The BR TLB couplings are elastic couplings from the BR line of Gummi, an Argentine coupling manufacturer, with hubs prepared to accept a Taper Lock taper bushing. The bushing is not included with the coupling. They are used to join shafts in power transmissions and to absorb misalignment and vibration. The BR TLB line is based on an elastic center that works between the two hubs and transmits motion while smoothing loads. The TLB variant is distinguished by each hub being prepared for a Taper Lock taper bushing: the bore is not machined and the fit to the shaft is achieved with the bushing. The designation is read with the line letters and the size: BR-100 TLB, BR-110 TLB, BR-150 TLB, BR-160 TLB and BR-180 TLB.

This type of elastic coupling is used in machines that need to transmit torque with a certain tolerance to misalignment: centrifugal pumps, fans, blowers, conveyor belts, mixers and process equipment. The maximum permissible speed decreases as the size increases, so compare the working rpm with that limit. Shaft alignment is checked before closing the assembly and the elastic center is inspected as part of maintenance.
