Transmission components

Transmission components are the parts that allow connecting shafts and transmitting motion between them: connecting links, chains, couplings, and auxiliary elements that complete a drive system. To select them, start from the type of transmission (chain, belt, or direct), the pitch or standardized section, and the width or diameter the system already has. If you are replacing a part, the most reliable information is the code stamped on the original part or the dimension measured on the equipment.

In this subcategory we work with the SKF line. The PHH W are connecting links for metric pitch roller chains: they serve to join sections, replace a damaged link, or close a custom-assembled chain run. The letters PHH identify the link family and the suffix W indicates the connection type; within that family, variants such as PHH SM30-1, PHH WH12, PHH WM30-1, and PHH BF12 differ by the pitch and width of the chain they correspond to. The BT are transmission chains of metallic construction, with standardized pitch and width, designed to connect shafts via sprockets; one listed example is BT 515-0-13.

These components are used in chain transmissions of industrial machines: conveyors, elevators, mixers, low-speed high-load drives, and equipment where belts cannot withstand the effort or the environment. The connecting link is the critical part when a chain run must be serviced without disassembling the entire system, and the complete chain is selected when replacing the entire section.
