Cylindrical roller bearings

Cylindrical roller bearings are line-contact components: the rollers rest on the raceway along a line, which gives them high radial load capacity and rigidity. They are selected by the bore diameter and width of the housing, the type of load (pure radial or combined with axial), the rotational speeds, and the required internal clearance. The series designations indicate how the assembly is built. NJ has one rib on the inner ring and two on the outer ring: it provides axial guidance in one direction. NU has no rib on the inner ring, so it only supports radial load and allows axial displacement. N is the variant with ribs only on the inner ring. NUP combines ribs on both rings and acts as an axial locating bearing in both directions. RN and RNU are designs without an inner or outer ring, for mounting directly on the shaft or in the housing. The NN and NNU series are double row, with greater rigidity and precision, and the NCF are single row with a full rib.

Suffixes also matter when requesting a quote. EC indicates an optimized internal geometry; M or ML indicate a machined brass cage; P or TVP refer to a polyamide cage or a sheet metal window cage; C3 is a radial internal clearance greater than standard; SP appears in precision designs and W33 indicates a lubrication groove and holes. VH and VB identify specific design variants. These codes define the bearing's behavior and are not interchangeable with each other.

Typical applications are gearboxes, pumps, fans, machine tools, transmission equipment, and conveyor rollers. In arrangements where the shaft expands due to temperature, a locating position with NUP or NJ and a non-locating position with NU are used. In high-demand equipment, double row or precision designs are chosen.
