FNL Housing

The FNL housing is a cast iron part that houses and secures the bearing on the shaft, with a design that makes mounting and maintenance easier in industrial equipment. It is selected based on the shaft diameter, the type and size of the bearing it will house, the mounting method to the structure, and the equipment's load and speed conditions. The FNL designation identifies the family of SKF cast iron housings with split housing, intended for mounting bearings and allowing disassembly without disassembling the shaft. The number that follows indicates the housing size and the final letter distinguishes construction or mounting variants. In the MR catalog you will find these references along with the covers and accessories that complete the assembly, so that the housing remains closed and protected.

These housings are used in conveyor belts, mills, pumps, fans, and other equipment where a rigid support and precise bearing alignment are needed. The split housing simplifies mounting and maintenance tasks because it allows opening the housing, removing the bearing, and closing it again without moving the shaft or the structure. They are also used in applications with long shafts or difficult access, where complete equipment disassembly is costly.

To request a quote for an FNL housing, you need the complete part number of the reference, for example FNL 510 A, or the shaft dimensions and the bearing it will house. If you do not have the part number, send us the shaft diameter, the bearing type, and a photo or drawing of the support, and we will look for the equivalent within the SKF line. It is also advisable to indicate whether you need the covers or fixing accessories to assemble the complete set.
