The MFC housing is a piloted flange mounted bearing: the unit combines a bearing insert with a flange housing that centers itself in the housing seat by means of a machined pilot. It is used to support rotating shafts in equipment where a firm front mounting and simple assembly are required, with the possibility of aligning and replacing the insert without reworking the seat. The series designation is read by family and number: MFC identifies the piloted flange housing and the number that follows indicates the insert and housing size. That is why MFC-15, MFC-16, MFC-19, MFC-20, MFC-23, MFC-27, MFC-28 and MFC-31 are different sizes within the same series, not sealing or material variants. The pilot must fit into the housing seat and the mounting face must be clean and flat so the insert does not work crooked. Check the insert sealing according to the environment: fine dust, washdown water or chips require different protection. Insert lubrication is replenished according to the duty cycle, and it is advisable to check shaft alignment before tightening the flange bolts.

As for interchangeability, the SEALMASTER MFC series crosses over with other piloted flange mounted bearing lines from equivalent manufacturers, as long as the shaft diameter, pilot, hole spacing and flange height match. It is not enough for the part number to be similar: the mounting dimensions must be compared.
