The DBH 9100 radial shaft seal is a lip seal designed to close off the passage of oil, grease or water on shafts rotating inside a housing. Its function is to retain the lubricant on the inner side and stop dust, chips or moisture from entering from outside, protecting bearings, bushings and gears. It is a wear part: when the lip hardens or the shaft gets marked, leakage begins and it should be replaced before the assembly fails.

This DBH 9100 seal works on a shaft with a diameter of 30 mm and fits into a 42 mm bore, with a height of 6.00 mm. The Lx design corresponds to a single-lip seal with an outer metal case, the most widespread format for press fitting into cylindrical housings. The 9100 designation identifies the size within the DBH line, so that number is enough to order the same seal or look for an equivalent in another brand.

When choosing a replacement, take into account the shaft speed, working temperature and the fluid to be retained: a lip made of the wrong material hardens quickly and loses sealing even if the size is correct.
