SKF tools: pullers, heaters and alignment

TMMP 2X65 and TMMP 3X185 are mechanical jaw pullers: the first number is the number of arms and the second relates to the size of the part they reach. They are not two sizes of the same tool but two models, and the spare parts of each carry a hyphen and an extra number.

TMAS 50-010 belongs to the machinery shims used for alignment: the code combines the shim size and its thickness. TMBR NU210 is an aluminium heating ring for mounting the inner ring of a cylindrical roller bearing, and the last part repeats the designation of that bearing. Reading the code this way avoids ordering an accessory in the belief that it is the complete tool.

For dismounting, the first thing is to see where the part can be gripped. If there is room behind the bearing, a jaw puller works; if not, another type of tool is needed. Measure the outside diameter of the part, the depth at which it sits and the clear space around it. A small puller forced onto a large part spreads and marks the shaft.

For mounting, what matters is how the bearing is fitted. A ring with an interference fit on the shaft is heated; one that fits in the housing is pushed with a tool that bears on the correct ring. Striking the wrong ring passes the force through the rolling elements and damages the new bearing. In alignment, shims are chosen by the size of the machine foot and the anchor bolt.

Send us the complete part number of the tool or the spare part. If you do not have it, describe the task: which part is mounted or dismounted, its dimensions, whether it is gripped from outside or inside and how much room there is. For heaters, state the bore, the weight and the type of the largest bearing you handle. For shims, the foot width, the bolt diameter and the thicknesses you use most often.
