In LGMT 2/0.4, LGMT is the grease; the 2 that follows is its consistency grade and the number after the slash is the pack size in kilograms. LGMT 3/1 is the same family in a firmer grade and in a one kilogram pack: it is not just a change of pack. When copying the code, keep the grade next to the letters.
LGEP 2/5 and LGHP 2/1 are other greases, each with its own thickener and base oil, intended for different operating conditions. Two greases of the same grade are not equivalent because they share a number. Codes that start with other letters are equipment: TLGB 20, for example, is a battery-driven grease gun, not a lubricant.
MR's catalog holds 411 SKF grease and lubrication references. The greases with the most pack sizes are LGMT (general purpose) and LGWA (high loads, wide temperature range), followed by LGWM (extreme pressure, low temperature), LGHB, LGEP and LGHP (high temperature); LAGD references are automatic lubricators supplied filled with one of these greases.
