SKF cylindrical roller bearings: designations

In NU 202 ECP, NU 203 ECP and NU 204 ECP, the NU prefix and ECP block recur while the numeric part changes. These examples locate references within the same designation structure. A different number identifies a different reference and must remain when recording the replacement, even if the parts look similar.

The reference NJ 205 ECP begins with another prefix. Do not reduce it to its digits or discard NU or NJ when preparing the request. The SKF guide distinguishes these constructions and notes axial displacement in the NU series. Retain the block after the number as well; recognizing the prefix does not justify guessing an unreadable ending.

The SKF application guide associates cylindrical roller bearings with motors and generators, and with calenders in plastics processing. For these machines, identify the exact shaft position and its relationship to the remaining assembly. One machine can use different constructions at opposite ends; transferring a code from one end to the other requires checking the parts drawing.

When a bearing is removed as separate components, preserve their association and original position. Include a view of the shaft and housing so that the request shows how the assembly was installed. The equipment name guides the search but does not replace details of the part removed from that position.

For a quote, send all letters and numbers, quantity, bore diameter, outside diameter and width. Specify the application, shaft and machine end. Readable photographs of markings help distinguish an incomplete prefix from a different one. If an angle ring or another mounting part is present, record its code separately. Clarifying which component is needed allows the bearing and accessories to be examined without confusing their references.
