SKF cam followers and support rollers

KR 16 PP and KRV 16 PP are cam followers: they have a threaded stud that is fixed to the structure with a nut. The number is the outside diameter of the roller. The V marks the version without a cage, with a full complement of needles: same outside and another reference.

NATR 5 PP and NUTR 15 A are support rollers: they have an inner ring and are mounted on a pin or shaft of the machine. There the number is the bore diameter. Between NATR and NUTR the internal construction changes, and NUTR 15 X shows that the final letter also separates executions of the same size. In every case, the designation is copied in full.

A cam follower runs on a line of contact, and the track of the machine wears together with it. Before replacing it, look at the cam or the rail: a marked or stepped track destroys the new roller. It also matters whether the outside surface of the roller is crowned or cylindrical, because each spreads the load differently when there is a slight tilt.

In stud-type rollers, the force reaches the structure through an overhung part. The thread, the stud diameter and its length must match the mounting hole, and it is tightened to the stated torque. Many have a greasing point at the end: if the previous one ran dry, check that duct.
