The NTN cylindrical roller bearing line includes constructions that do not necessarily perform the same role on a shaft. Rollers make line contact with the raceways, and ring geometry influences how the assembly is guided. Recognising the family is therefore only a starting point: a replacement enquiry must identify the actual support and its constituent parts.

Catalog examples are NU208, NU209, NU210 and E-4R6012. Their different designation structures should be preserved in full. Removing a prefix can conceal the construction being requested.
In the NU construction, an inner ring without flanges permits relative axial displacement within the bearing. Do not automatically extend that description to every execution grouped on this page. It does not replace checking the specific assembly or justify interpreting suffixes as performance specifications.
For a gearbox, pump or machine tool, distinguish the support locating the shaft axially from any support intended to accommodate movement. Use the manufacturer’s drawing or maintenance documentation to describe that function; a loose bearing photograph may not show it.
Keep separately removed rings associated with their original positions. Do not mix parts from neighbouring supports to reconstruct a reference. State whether the work involves only the bearing or also the shaft, housing and other seating components.
Send MR the complete NTN code, quantity and equipment identification. Include a sketch locating the shaft supports and mark the position under repair. If markings are missing, add labelled dimensions and photographs of both faces of the rings. Treat matching dimensions as identification evidence, not as confirmed equivalence.
