Lock Nut

A lock nut is a precision component that is threaded onto the shaft or sleeve to secure bearings and other elements axially. It is selected based on thread diameter and pitch, the wrench type (hook, impact, or hydraulic), and the need to lock it with a lock washer. The HM and HM T series are nuts with metric thread and hook wrench slots; the T indicates they are used with a lock washer to secure the bearing. The KM series is similar but with fine metric thread, and KMT has a design that allows more precise adjustment. KMFE is used in mounting with adapter sleeves, while KML and KMTA correspond to specific configurations. AN and HN are nuts for inch threads, and HNA for applications with hydraulic sleeves. Each designation includes the diameter and pitch, for example HM 30/530 or KM 14.

These lock nuts are used in a wide variety of equipment: from machine tools and pumps to fans, conveyors, and gearboxes. They are critical in mountings where the bearing must remain firmly secured and easy to adjust or dismount. They are also used in combination with adapter sleeves or withdrawal sleeves to simplify assembly and disassembly.
